VISION
“The University of Chicago-UTCC Research Center aims to be the best regional hub in economics, business and social science research."
MISSIONS
The University of Chicago-UTCC Research Center seeks to enhance the quality for the theoretical and policy-based research in economics, business and social science by pursuing 3 missions:
- Developing mechanism for inducing the highest quality of the theoretical and policy-based research in economics, business and social science.
- Creating the collaborative research network by bringing together, with a variety of activities and functions, the best experts in Thailand, who works for universities and government ministries, the scholars of the University of Chicago and potentially other US/European university professors.
- Strengthening the research capacities of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s faculty and developing University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Thailand to become the best regional research hub both theoretical and policy-based in economics, business and social science.
ACTIVITIES
To obtain the long run goals, the University of Chicago-UTCC Research Center has identified a variety of activities and functions as follows:
- Developing and promoting a comprehensive research database archive. This archive is currently being developed at the University of Chicago and further development would be done in collaboration with both institutions and other government agencies. The archive will be shifted more to Thailand over time.
- Providing series of training, conferences and seminars on economics, business and social science aspects. The training courses offered will be carried out by faculty and researchers of the University of Chicago and other US/European universities. They include; for example, ethnographic research, policy evaluation, data collecting and GIS training.
- Creating research network, and facilitating faculty and researchers from the University of Chicago and members who relocate to work in Thailand and the region to interact with the Center.
- Promoting the importance of high quality research with relevance to Thai policymaking, focusing on recent findings.
